Frances ‘Frank’ Korte Colfax, Wash.

Rosary for Frances X. “Frank” Korte, 76, will be at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Colfax. Funeral Mass is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at the Colfax Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Reading, Kan., Mr. Korte died Friday.

He graduated from Emporia (Kan.) High School and later served in Marine Corps aviation in the South Pacific during World War II.

Mr. Korte married Marjory Maricle in 1945.

He worked for the postal service for two years in Emporia and then worked for the Bureau of Reclamation as a hydro power plant operator in Wyoming and Estes Park, Colo., for 10 years. He transferred to the Bonneville Power Administration in Pendleton, Ore., in 1958 as a substation operator.

Mr. Korte later moved to Portland where he served as a supervisor control operator for two years before moving to Colfax in 1963, where he was a suboperator until he retired in 1978.

He was a licensed real estate broker and worked for Palouse Empire Realty of Pullman.

His memberships included St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Colfax Elks Lodge and the Colfax Veterans of Foreign War.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mike Korte of Seattle and Dan Korte of Kennewick; a daughter, Trudy Wilson of Stevenson, Wash.; two brothers, Robert Korte of Emporia, Kan., and Tony Korte of Arkansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Catherine Korte of Emporia and Agnes Wilper of Garnett, Kan.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Whitman County Hospital Foundation of Colfax.

Maurice Lewis Pinehurst, Idaho

Memorial service for Maurice Duane Lewis, 58, will be at 10 a.m today at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lewis, a longtime Pinehurst resident, died Thursday at home.

He was born in Genesee, Idaho.

Mr. Lewis retired after 27 years with the Sunshine Mining Co.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Betty; five daughters, Sandi Snyder of Prichard, Idaho, Cherri Crnkovich of Winnemucca, Nev., Tanya Allmer and Jeneal Mitchell, both of Pinehurst, and Sam Mathis of Post Falls; a son, Craig Lewis of Kingston, Idaho; two brothers, Dennis and Mickey Lewis, both of Spokane; a sister, Diane Rodeen of Colfax, Wash.; and 18 grandchildren.

Caroline Anderson Spokane

Private cremation for Caroline S. Anderson, 93, will be held. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Anderson, a 70-year Spokae resident, died Saturday.

She was born in Milladore, Wis., and was a homemaker.

Her husband of 59 years, Eric, died in 1981.

She is survived by a son, Charles Anderson and a daughter, Dorothy Glore, both of Spokane; four grandsons and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Frances Dalession Spokane

Funeral Mass for Frances Dalession, 84, will be at 11 a.m. today at Mary Queen Catholic Church. HennesseySmith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Dalession, who died Saturday, was born in Poland.

She was a 46-year Spokane resident and was a housekeeper.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Piotrowska of Poland; three grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Rae Fries Jeannie Fries Spokane

Service for Rae Marie Fries, 42, and her daughter, Jeannie Rae Fries, 12, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Korean Central Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Fries, who was born in South Korea, and Jeannie, who was born at Fairchild Air Force Base, died Friday in an automobile collision on Highway 2.

Mrs. Fries was a homemaker.

Jeannie was a student at Brentwood Elementary School.

Survivors include Mrs. Fries’ husband and Jeannie’s father, Paul; Mrs. Fries’ sisters, Yong Hui Gallaway of Crestview, Fla., and Yong Won Panhort of Beale Air Force Base, California; and Jeannie’s grandparents, Robert and Jean Fries of Newport, Wash.

Judy Brown Spokane

Visitation for Judy D. Brown, 57, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral HomeNorth. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hillyard Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Brown, who was born in Wallace, died Friday.

She was a graduate of Rogers High School and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Hillyard Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Cal; two daughters, Jodel Cooper and Kathy Tortorelli, both of Spokane; four sons, Larry Reber and Dareyl and Kevin Brown, all of Spokane, and Curtis Brown of Portland; her parents, Lloyd and Pauline Rumford of Spokane; and five grandchildren.

Harold McCall Spokane

Service for Harold McCall, 76, was Saturday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial was at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. McCall, who died Wednesday, was born in St. Paul, Minn.

He served in the Army Medical Corps in central Europe from 1940 to 1944.

He later worked as a clerk for the postal service for 16 years in Spokane.

Mr. McCall was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Postal Workers Union.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Berniece; a son, Jack Welch of Newman Lake; two daughters, Betty Rhea and Karen Tortorelli, both of Spokane; eight grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Fern Galipeau Spokane

Graveside service for Fern I. Galipeau, 86, was held at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Galipeau, who was born in Platte, S.D., died Friday.

She was a laundry worker and a resident of Spokane for 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alphonse.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Murray of Spokane and Denna Boogaard of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a stepson, Jack Schaaf of Spokane; a stepdaughter, Betty Fletcher of California; a sister, Lora Netherda of McMinnville, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Dan McBride Spokane

Memorial service for Dan Lewis McBride, 43, is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Mr. McBride, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Thursday.

He was a graduate of Mead High School and worked with his father in the retail grocery business before going into business for himself as McBride’s Trees and Landscaping.

He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Randi Wade; and his parents, Lewis and Leora McBride.

Beatrice Underwood Spokane

Service for Beatrice E. Underwood, 88, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Underwood, who was born in Egypt, Wash., died Friday.

She was a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School and Kinman Business College. She worked as a secretary in Spokane and at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Davenport, Wash.

She married Floyd Underwood in 1931 and was a homemaker. They retired in Spokane in 1969. Her husband died in 1980.

Mrs. Underwood was a Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Davenport Chapter 131, and a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization Chapter N of Davenport and Chapter EQ of Spokane, Davenport Presbyterian Church and also served as a Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Spokane.

Survivors include two sons, Bert Underwood of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Roger Underwood of Spokane; a daughter, Joy Glover of Richland; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Spokane or P.E.O. Projects.

Joe Clark Spokane

Service for Joe E. Clark, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Born in St. John, Wash., Mr. Clark died Saturday.

He was a graduate of St. John High School and was a resident of Spokane for 59 years.

He retired in the early 1970s from the Spokane Police Department after working in accident investigation for many years.

Mr. Clark was a member of the Police Beneficial Association.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Karen Henley of Eugene, Ore.; a brother, Charles Clark of Enterprise, Ore.; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.

Dena Haisley Spokane

Service for Dena Belvina Haisley, 94, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Haisley, who was born in LaMoure, N.D., died Saturday.

She was a teacher for 16 years in North Dakota and moved to Spokane in 1948. She taught kindergarten in Spokane until she retired in 1966.

Mrs. Haisley was a member of Fourth Memorial Church.

Her husband, Floyd, died in 1960.

She is survived by two sons, Howard Haisley of Spokane and Roger Haisley of Nine Mile Falls; two sisters, Josie Mammel of Morehead, Minn., and Mabel Thompson of Fargo, N.D.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission.

Julio Tonti Spokane

Vigil service for Julio Edward Tonti, 78, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Born in Wardner, Idaho, Mr. Tonti died Thursday.

He worked for the Great Northern Railroad.

He served in the Army during World War II in Company C 140th Infantry.

In 1946 he married Angelyn Durante and went to work for National Pole Yard for 11 years. He later worked for the refuse department with the City of Spokane for 23 years and retired when he was 62.

Mr. Tonti was a member of the 7th Division Infantry.

Survivors include his wife; and two sons, Daniel and David Tonti, at home.

Alvin Harris Yakima

Graveside service for Alvin A. Harris, 84, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, Wash. Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Fond du Lac, Wis., Mr. Harris died Friday.

He joined the circus at the age of 14 and moved to Spokane in the early 1930s.

He worked as a lumberjack in North Idaho and married Martha Landenberger in 1941. Together they operated a poultry farm in Spokane from 1945 to 1968.

They moved to Yakima in 1994.

His wife died in 1995.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Bliesner of Sunnyside, Dorothy Szep of Molalla, Ore., and Betty Woodgeard of Pahrump, Nev.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Theodore Hieronymus Spokane

Service for Theodore J. “Ted” Hieronymus, 91, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

Born in Admire, Kan., Mr. Hieronymus died Sunday.

He married Clara Jorgensen in 1964.

He owned the Sheridan Grocery and Meat Market and retired in 1972.

Mr. Hieronymus was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Nancy Ableson of Bellevue, Wash., Donna Wright of Seattle, Sharon Throop of Spokane and Linda Soom of Denver; four sons, Richard and Neil Hieronymus, both of Spokane, Dan Hieronymus of Sandpoint and Sam Hieronymus of Riverside, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mildred Naslund Spokane

Memorial service for Mildred J. Naslund, 75, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Fowler United Methodist Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and cremation.

Mrs. Naslund, who was born in Cheney, died Saturday.

She was a graduate of Eastern State College and taught public school.

She was a member of the Fowler United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Naslund is survived by her husband of 52 years, Clarence; a daughter, Sharon Eaton of Dayton, Wash.; a son, Roger Naslund of Spokane; and five grandchildren.

Louise Barber Spokane

Memorial service for Louise Barber, 93, is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Westminster Congregational Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Barber, who was born in Watkins, Minn., died Aug. 1.

She was a homemaker and a member of Westminster Congregational Church.

Survivors include a son, Ron Barber of Spokane; a sister, Rose Simpson of Idaho; and two grandchildren.
