Celtics Sign Pair

Compiled From Wire Services

The Boston Celtics signed two free agents - forward Chris Mills and point guard Tyus Edney.

Mills, 27, comes to the Celtics from the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he was the secondleading scorer last season, averaging 13.4 points, led the team in minutes played, and made 86 3-pointers. Edney, 24, who had spent his entire career with the Sacramento Kings, averaged 6.9 points and 3.2 assists last season, losing his starting job to Bobby Hurley late in the year.

Fresno State found no evidence of pointshaving by its basketball players, according to a report released by the college. Players Dominick Young and Chris Herren have been the focus of a federal investigation. Both players have denied the allegations. The federal investigation isn’t expected to be completed for several weeks.
