Shannon Miller lost her balance, but not her composure, and led a 1-2 U.S. finish in individual all-around gymnastics at the World University Games.

The Chinese did one better in the men’s competition, sweeping all three medals. Zheng Lihui won the gold, followed by Zhao Sheng and Wang Dong. The three helped China to the team gold.

After slipping on the balance beam for the second straight day, Miller recovered to add another gold medal to her collection that includes two from the Olympics and five from the world championships.

In women’s volleyball, Russia defeated the United States 15-11, 15-12, 15-12, but both countries will advance from preliminary play to the quarterfinals. Italy and Taiwan also clinched spots in the next round.
