Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: If you have trouble with paint building up in the grooves at the top of the paint can when painting, I have a simple solution.

Drill holes in the groves and let the paint fall back into the paint can. The lid will cover the holes when replaced. Joseph Sawicki, Bloomfield, N.J.

For others who don’t have a drill, you can use a hammer and large nail to carefully puncture holes around the rim. - Heloise

Dear Heloise: I use (recycle) a plastic newspaper bag to carry a wet, dripping umbrella. It prevents my leaving a trail of water, which can damage carpeting or be dangerous on hard surfaces in banks, stores or libraries. - J.N., Chapel Hill, N.C.

Dear Heloise: You can save a bundle on gift wrap if you stock up on shelving paper when it goes on sale. - Linda Allen, Woodland Park, Colo.
