Dollar Hits Three-Week High Vs. Yen

The dollar climbed to a three-week high against the yen Wednesday after an influential Japanese official said he is growing more concerned about the country’s sagging economy.

The dollar also was slightly higher against the mark in nervous trading ahead of comments from Germany’s top central banker.

The yen weakened after Japanese Vice Finance Minister Eisuke Sakakibara said in a published interview that Japan’s economy has suffered more than expected from an April rise in its consumption tax.
