Isu Coach May Sue

An attorney for Idaho State University men’s basketball coach Herb Williams said a lawsuit was possible over remarks by athletic director Irv Cross that might have cost Williams a better job.

Williams applied to become head coach at DePaul University earlier this year. But his lawyer alleged Friday that Cross’ assessment of the player graduation rate under Williams contributed to DePaul’s decision to hire someone else in June.

Guard Arthur “Yah” Davis, whose play as a freshman was pivotal in St. Joseph’s run to the Sweet 16 in the last NCAA tournament, was declared academically ineligible for the fall semester.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Elden Campbell faces a lawsuit filed by a woman who claims she was drugged and raped during a party at his home.

The suit, filed in Torrance (Calif.) Superior Court by a 29-year-old Rosemead woman, alleges sexual battery, assault and false imprisonment, KNBC-TV reported.
