Bulls Don’t Need Jordan’s 13

Associated Press

Michael Jordan scored a season-low 13 points on 4-of-16 shooting but the Chicago Bulls didn’t need his offense Friday night in an 84-62 victory over the misfiring Milwaukee Bucks.

Toni Kukoc had 19 points and the Bulls held Milwaukee to its lowest scoring ouput in its 30 years in the NBA. The Bucks’ previous low came Nov. 21, 1996, against Atlanta when they scored 65 points.

Scottie Pippen, at the United Center for the first time since saying he wanted to be traded, joined the Bulls on the bench. With about 2 minutes left in the game, fans began chanting “Scottie, Scottie.”

Jordan picked up two early fouls, missed seven of his first nine shots and had only four points in the first half.

With his consecutive double-figures scoring streak of 775 games in jeopardy, he scored eight straight in the final quarter, leaving him seven points short of passing Moses Malone for third place on the NBA career scoring list. His career low was eight points in 1986.

The Bucks shot 33 percent.

Keith Van Horn, the second pick in the NBA draft, made his longawaited debut and had 11 points as the New Jersey Nets defeated the visiting Philadelphia 76ers 107-88.

Antonio McDyess scored nine of his 19 points in the third period as the Phoenix Suns dealt the visiting Toronto Raptors their 15th consecutive loss, 110-91.
