Idaho Residents Advance In Chosen Military Fields
Kory L. Turnbow, son of Terry and Donagene Turnbow of Post Falls; and Richard A. Fisher, son of Edward Fisher and grandson of Edna Gundlach, both of Coeur d’Alene, have both received practical work in military leadership at the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) Advanced Camp at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.
Turnbow is a student at Washington State University and a 1994 graduate of Post Falls High School.
Fisher is a student at Boise State University.
Both are eligible for a commission as a second lieutenant in the Army, Guard or Reserve after graduating from college.
Air Force Capt. Karen L. Deimler, daughter of Larry and Marilyn Russell of Post Falls, has arrived for duty at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., as a contracts attorney assigned to the 2nd Bomb Wing.
Deimler received a bachelor’s degree in 1987 from the University of California and a master’s degree in 1991 from Gonzaga University School of Law.
Army National Guard Pvt. Christopher P. Johansen, son of Richard Johansen of Coeur d’Alene, graduated from basic military training at Fort Sill, Okla.
Johansen is a 1996 Coeur d’Alene High School graduate.
Howard L. Johnson Jr., son of Howard Johnson and Connie Thompson, has enlisted in the Navy’s delayed entry program for guaranteed training as an interior communications electrician.
Johnson, a 1997 graduate of Priest River-Lamanna High School, will report for active duty this month and will attend basic training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.
Marine Capt. Nathan E. Huntington, a 1993 graduate of the University of Idaho has been promoted to his present rank while serving with the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 265, 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Fleet Marine Force, Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
Marine Pfc. Christopher E. Nelson, son of Craig Nelson of Hayden Lake, has been promoted to his present rank while serving with the Supply School Company, Marine Corps Service Support Schools, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Nelson is a 1993 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School and joined the Marines last December.
Army National Guard Pfc. Jason R. Lentz, son of Robert Lentz, of Spokane, has graduated from one station unit training (OSUT) at Fort Sill, Okla.
