Bulls Star Now 3rd
Michael Jordan became the third-leading scorer in NBA history Tuesday night, scoring 29 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 100-82 victory over the slumping New York Knicks at Chicago.
Toni Kukoc added 20 points, going 4 for 4 from 3-point range and 6 for 6 overall, in helping the Bulls to their first four-game winning streak this season.
Jordan, the NBA’s nine-time scoring leader, has 27,432 points in 867 games over 13 seasons. He moved past Moses Malone, who scored 27,409 points in 1,045 games during his 19-year career.
Jazz bow to Kings
Corliss Williamson scored 19 of his career-high 27 points in the second half and Mitch Richmond added 24 points as the Sacramento Kings defeated the Utah Jazz 113-101 in Sacramento.
John Stockton, playing in his second game since recovering from knee surgery, finished with four points and five assists in 20 minutes - the same amount of time he played Monday in his season debut.
Surgery for Hardaway
Orlando Magic guard Penny Hardaway will undergo an arthroscopic procedure today to repair damaged cartilage in his left knee.
Hardaway, troubled by tendinitis in his left knee, was placed on the injured list Monday. He is averaging 20.2 points and has missed eight of the team’s 21 games.
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Bob Sura has had his injured left ankle put in a cast and will be evaluated again in two weeks.
