Dollar Falls Against Yen

The dollar fell against the Japanese yen Tuesday on expectations the Japanese government will take action to pull the economy out of its financial crisis.

The dollar had risen to 5-1/2-year highs in several trading sessions partly because of Japan’s ongoing financial problems plus the currency, real estate and stock market problems of its Southeast Asian neighbors.

But the currency strengthened on reports the government may announce action Wednesday to bolster its weak economy.
