West Valley Slips Past Coeur D’Alene, 51-48

Girls basketball

Gabby McClintock, the lone returning starter from West Valley’s state-title team, scored 22 points Saturday during a 51-48 Border League win over visiting Coeur d’Alene (2-5, 1-2).

McClintock made 6 of 9 field goals and 9 of 11 free throws. The Eagles (1-3, 1-1) hit 6 of 11 from 3-point range and committed 11 fewer fouls than the Vikings.

WV, last year’s State AA champion, now plays in the 3A classification.

CdA’s Shaylia Davis scored 25.

Lake City’s Kellie Stern made 6 of 7 from the field and added eight rebounds. EV’s April Tomblin made 6 of 6 free throws and 4 of 6 field goals.
