Kudos!!!

Shadle High junior Scott Nelson will represent students on a new youth advisory committee formed by U.S. Rep. George Nethercutt.

Seven students from Shadle attended Camp P.E.A.C.E. (People Everywhere Are Created Equal) in November. Missy Alake, Tom Friedlander, J.J. Johnson, Rachel Lal, Janelle Lowe, Alicia Walters and Anthony Walters are now forming a group at Shadle to celebrate diversity.

Kim Konshuk and Sarah Johnson of Liberty High School have been chosen for Earthwatch, a program that gives them the opportunity to work with scientists and graduate students on expeditions to field stations and laboratories across the United States.

Shadle senior Jason Roberts designed the poster and programs for “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” and “The Toy Shelf,” both of which were performed at the Met. Brooke Davis was selected to be dance company photographer for “The Toy Shelf.”

Amanda Rogers, a senior at Deer Park High School, won first place at the Future Farmers of America state public speaking contest, and fifth at the national competition with her speech about PMU ranching.

The Ritzville FFA chapter recently won first place for parliamentary procedure at the FFA convention in Kansas City, Mo. The team brought back $6,000 in college scholarships.

The Riverside High School girl’s soccer team won the state title in their division. They finished the season with a perfect record.

Ferris seniors Brandon Matthews, Mike Raven and Scott Siera have been named semi-finalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition. This spring, they will be informed whether they are finalists. Seniors Zach Frazier, Lauren Hoernlein and Garrett Tenold were commended scholars.

Medical Lake sophomore Jeremiah Johnson was chosen as this year’s Hugh O’Brien Youth Ambassador for his school. The HOBY conference will take place in June.

Medical Lake senior Beth Bow was selected to receive the Principal’s Leadership Award and will compete nationally for a $1,000 college scholarship.

University High seniors Erik Boyce, Chris Cordodor, Dan Kearsley and Matt Pierce were named National Merit Commended Students.
