Silverwood, Ad Firm Honored For TV Spot
Silverwood Theme Park and WhiteRunkle Associates of Spokane won the “Best of Show” advertising award at the recent International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions annual convention and trade show in Orlando, Fla.
The “Brass Ring” award was presented for a 30-second television spot created by WhiteRunkle.
There were 250 entries for the prize, with competitors coming from some of the largest and most successful theme parks in the world.
“Disneyland, Universal - all those folks belong to IAAPA,” said Silverwood marketing director David Palmer. “So you’re up against people spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a commercial.”
The award-winning spot featured children and their dog watching television. When a commercial showing Silverwood’s “Timber Terror” roller coaster comes on the screen, the TV set becomes animated and begins to gyrate as if on the ride.
The commercial earned Silverwood and WhiteRunkle a second “Brass Ring” award for best TV spot for theme parks with annual attendance of 250,001-500,000. , DataTimes
