Cv’s Beck Heads All-State List State 4a Champion Bears Place Three On Team

It’s been nearly two weeks since Central Valley won the state 4A football championship, but football is still keeping Wil Beck busy.

The Central Valley senior has been named the Class 4A player of the year by the Associated Press. Beck made 73 tackles and had seven sacks for the Bears this season. He is joined on the 4A all-state team by two other CV players - linebacker Garret Graham and running back Tyree Clowe. Also from the Greater Spokane League, Gonzaga Prep’s Shane Hartnett was honored at defensive back.

Matthias Wilson, a running back from 3A Ferndale, was named all-class player of the year. In addition to Beck and Wilson, the class-by-class players of the year were QB Ben Dougherty of Elma (2A), quarterback Chris Gruener of Tacoma Baptist (1A), wide receiver Joe Levens of DeSales (B-11) and running back Nick Bates of Colton (B-8).

Medical Lake is represented on the 2A team, by offensive lineman Scott Huston and defensive lineman Brandon Moore and defensive back Aaron Carr.

Pullman put two players on the 2A list. They are wide receiver Nate Brown and defensive back Aaron Linehan of Pullman.

Colfax is well-represented on the 1A team. lineman Jacob Keck made the list on offense and defense and is joined by defensive lineman Mark Van Tyne, defensive back Tyson Curtis and Kelly Jones, a linebacker.

Justin Gregor of Freeman is the 1A punter.

Tony Adams, a defensive lineman from Reardan, is the only area player on the B-11 team. For the B-8s, Rosalia was represented twice by Scott DeGon, listed at running back and defensive back. The Spartans also placed offensive lineman Jason Miller, defensive back Brent Slemp, linebacker Bill Lathrop, and linebacker Jason Miller on the team.

Rosalia’s Slemp and CV’s Clowe were the only juniors mentioned in this report. All others are seniors.
