Silver Charm Returning

Compiled From Wire Services

More than six months later, Silver Charm is back and looking better than ever.

The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner hasn’t run since finishing second to Touch Gold in the Belmont Stakes on June 7. That kept him from becoming the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978. Silver Charm came down with a fever after the Belmont, and trainer Bob Baffert decided several months ago to rest the gray colt until Friday’s $200,000 Malibu Stakes on opening day at Santa Anita.

A field of 11 was entered Tuesday for the Malibu. Silver Charm, with a co-high weight of 123 pounds, drew post position No. 7.
