Inmates Go Cold Turkey This Christmas

Associated Press

It’s going to be a cold turkey kind of Christmas for inmates at the Lewis County Jail.

Brown bag Army-surplus turkey sandwiches are on the menu for dinner.

“We want to be mellow about Christmas,” said Corrections Sgt. Barry Wrzesinski.

“If we threw a big celebration, it would just depress (the inmates) and make them think about what they are missing.”

The cold dinner will allow the jail’s union cooks be home with their families for the holiday.
