Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I have taken my wife’s old makeup mirror, the type that you hang around the neck (it swivels up and down and sideways) and attached it to a 10-foot pole and use it to check my gutters for leaves. This eliminates having to get up on a ladder every time.

I also use it to check under my car for any defective parts in the muffler, tailpipe, etc., without having to crawl under it. - Ray Houle, Madison, Tenn.

Dear Heloise: Here’s a hint I discovered and have been using for a long time.

Save all the empty boxes that have contained breath mints. They are perfect receptacles for storing small beads, sequins, buttons, tacks, upholstery pins, paper clips or even to take along on a trip to carry a few vitamins.

You will discover more uses for them as you go along. You can always see the contents. - Mary A. Steger, San Antonio
