Teen Convicted In Bothell Murder

From Staff And Wire Reports

A King County jury on Monday convicted a teenager of second-degree murder in the death of a youth who was pushed off a Bothell trestle.

The Superior Court jury returned its verdict against Brian Schrader, 18, after less than two hours of deliberations. Schrader faces 16 to 20 years in prison.

Schrader was charged in the January 1996 drowning of 18-year-old Michael Schuerhoff. Schuerhoff was pushed off the abandoned railroad bridge into the Sammamish River, nearly 40 feet below.

Prosecutors say Schrader killed the teen on a $30 bet. Schrader’s lawyer called it a prank gone awry by a group of teens he labeled “idiots on parade.”
