Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I have so many uses for those little paper coffee filters. I use them to:

Line my bread basket.

Take a few cookies or a piece of cake to a neighbor. - Gladys Edwards, Eastland, Texas

Some other uses:

Cover food when reheating in the microwave to prevent spatters.

Put one in the bottom of a flower- or herb pot to hold the soil in over the drain hole.

Poke a hole in the center of one or two and slide an ice-pop stick in to catch drips. - Heloise

Dear Heloise: I wonder how many people know that the little caps on medical ointments should be turned around and inverted in the tube to make the opening. I always used a paring knife with frustration and was pleasantly surprised to learn this little tip. - Grandma L.S., Rochester, N.Y.
