New Cbs, Old Cbs Have A Lot In Common
The CBS eye isn’t blinking.
Westinghouse Electric Corp. said Wednesday it would keep the CBS name and famous eye logo for the new company it created last November by spinning off its media properties.
This came after spending $30,000 on a public attitude study about the name and sifting through 50 potential designs for the logo, said spokeswoman Helene Blieberg of the just-christened CBS Corp.
“The advice always came back - keep the name that has been known as a leader of the broadcasting industry from its earliest days, a name that has the power of a brand recognized worldwide for quality news and entertainment,” Westinghouse chairman and CEO Michael Jordan said.
