John Harris Spokane

Family memorial service for John M. Harris, 66, a former Central Valley School District music teacher, will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Harris, who died Thursday, was born in Hinton, W. Va.

He graduated from Concord College in West Virginia and worked for the Central Valley School District for 25 years.

Mr. Harris had received national awards and recognition for his photography and was a member of the Spokane Valley Camera Club and the Photography Society of America.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jeannene Harris; two daughters, Jennifer Larson of Olympia and Joleen Harris of Spokane; four brothers, James Harris of Syracuse, N.Y., Joseph Harris of Spartanburg, S.C., David Harris of Beckley, W.Va., and Daniel Harris of Nimitz, W. Va.; two sisters, Naomi Oaks of Nimitz and Grace Harris of Taiwan; and two grandchildren.
