Coeur D’Alenes Co. Reports Small Loss

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Coeur d’Alenes Co., a Spokane-based steel company, Tuesday reported a loss of $40,200, or 1 cent per share, on revenue of $3 million for the first quarter ended Dec. 25, 1996.

That compares with a loss of $43,600, or 1 cent per share, on revenue of $2.69 million for the same period a year earlier.

An ice storm slowed operations during the quarter, and employees who had been working 18 months without a labor contract were paid a one-time settlement bonus, the company said. Employees during the quarter also chose to decertify Ironworkers Local 706, ending the long labor dispute.

The Coeur d’Alenes Co. and its affiliate, Stock Steel, have 80 employees and 2,300 shareholders. , DataTimes
