Cda Holds Off Bulldogs

Casey Hoorelbeke scored 22 points and the visiting Coeur d’Alene Vikings (13-7, 5-3) used late free throws Friday night to beat Sandpoint (7-13, 1-7), 54-42.

The Bulldogs came within four points in the fourth quarter before falling back.

League champ Post Falls (8-0) and Lewiston (3-4) complete the Inland Empire League regular season tonight.

The A-1 Region I tournament begins Monday, with No. 5 Sandpoint playing a loser-out game at No. 4 Lake City (3-5). The tourney’s doubleelimination portion begins Wednesday at Post Falls.

Adam Miller scored 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting as the league-leading Bears (12-3, 8-0) cruised to a road win over the Lumberjacks (8-9, 4-4).

Moscow, which leads second-place Kellogg (5-2) by 2-1/2 games, clinched at least a tie for the league title.

Chris Weinmann had eight rebounds for St. Maries.

The Vikings won the top three weights, starting with Dusty Gatten’s pin at 171.
