Central Valley Star Topples Gsl Scoring Records
GSL girls basketball
The Greater Spokane League girls basketball season reached the finish line early.
With a game to go, Central Valley’s Crystal Lee broke two scoring records and the district tournament pairings are basically decided.
Lee had 17 points Tuesday night in an 87-56 win over Shadle Park, giving her 321 for the season and 804 for her three-year career. Mead’s Colleen Flanigan had 317 points during the 1991-92 season and Dory Reeves, who finished at Lewis and Clark in 1989, had 803 in her career.
“I didn’t know how many points I had to score,” Lee said. “. That’s exciting. It’s not like you have one good game or a good year, you have to have a good high school career to break that kind of record.”

The Arena game was decided early, when the Tigers (8-11, 6-9) trailed the Saxons (12-7, 9-6) at halftime 27-13.
“This was a tough loss, we thought we were up for it, ready to play,” LC coach Jim Redmon said. ‘Maybe we put too much on it. We’re disappointed. Give them credit. Their defense kept us out of any flow. Becki (Huddle) got most of our points. We’ve been getting more contributions from other players and we didn’t get that tonight.”
Huddle had nine of LC’s 13 at halftime and finished with 21.
“Our defense was real nice in the first half, we gave them trouble,” Ferris coach Art Rojas said. “We didn’t allow Becki to beat us.”
Huddle couldn’t offset Amy George and Karie Pruett. George had 11 of her 14 in the first half. Pruett had 11 of her 18 in the second.
