Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: The nurses at my orthopedic doctor’s office suggested I send you this hint. My shoulder was broken and the doctor put my arm into a hanging cast, which meant a sling around my neck.

I could not attempt to wear a bra or even a T-shirt, so to cover my upper body I pulled on a half slip, putting the elasticized waistband up under my arms.

The slip was long enough to look like a strapless teddy and it was adequate cover under the one-sleeve on, one-sleeve off shirt I could button on. - Dorothy Hibner, Hamilton, Ohio

Dear Heloise: My thick-furred cat, who really needs to be brushed to prevent fur balls, used to rebel because of the discomfort of static electricity generated during the process.

Then it occurred to me to run the brush under the water faucet to dampen it slightly. Voila! No static, no fur balls, just a happy cat who loves his grooming. - Sally Currie, Farmington, N.M.
