Big Three Carry Ritzville To Title

Balance couldn’t overcome the Big Three on Thursday as Ritzville’s girls won the Bi-County League Tournament and ended Wilbur-Creston’s 17-game winning streak.
Megan Wellsandt, Shannon Russel and Megan Yerxa combined for 47 points to lift sixth-ranked Ritzville (19-3) over the No. 3 Wildcats 51-43.
Wildcats scoring leader Mindy Bandy injured her hand in the first quarter. She returned briefly in the second quarter.
Even without Bandy, the Wildcats rallied from a 14-point deficit to tie it at 41.
Ritzville opens the District 7-B Tournament at Spokane Falls Community College at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday against Panorama League No. 4 St. George’s (14-10). Second-seeded W-C opens vs. Panorama No. 3 Selkirk (21-3) at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
