Bumper Bill Targets Monster Trucks

From Staff And Wire Reports

For the fifth year in a row, Rep. June Judd is pushing a bill that would limit the bumper height on monster trucks.

Among other things, the so-called “bumper bill” would make owners of jacked-up trucks place lowered bumpers on the trucks in order to protect people driving standard sized vehicles.

“Safety is the big concern,” said Judd, a St. Maries Democrat.

Tim Martin, a monster-truck enthusiast, said that he felt the rules posed by the bill were vague.

He also said there was no evidence monster trucks were any more dangerous than a school bus or dump truck.

The House Transportation Committee voted to send it to the House for a vote. North Idaho lawmakers Charles Cuddy, D-Orofino; Don Pischner, R-Coeur d’Alene; and Hilde Kellogg, R-Post Falls; agreed with the committee’s decision. , DataTimes
