Most parents pleased with Freeman staff

I attended the Freeman School Board meeting that you wrote about last week (Valley Voice, Feb. 13) regarding concerns with discipline in the Freeman schools.

I didn’t think your article fairly portrayed the context of the meeting. In a high school with more than 200 students, there were only four or five families that expressed concerns, and most of those were repetitious questions about detention.

The Freeman School District superintendent, Harry Amend, and the high school principal, Dennis Schuerman, did an excellent job of the answering questions.

We have four children in Freeman schools, including elementary, junior high and high school. We are very pleased with the district and would hope that the conservative style of discipline will continue for many years. We want our children in a safe environment that is conducive to learning and that is what Freeman provides.

Administrators and staff at Freeman, keep up the good work. The vast majority are supporting you. Larry Carrell Valleyford
