David Tesch Hayden, Idaho

Memorial Mass for David Michael Tesch, 49, will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in Post Falls. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 143 at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. A reception will follow at Yates Hayden Chapel Gathering Center, 373 Hayden Ave.

Mr. Tesch, who was born in Minnesota, died Sunday.

He grew up in Minnesota and Oregon and served 16 years in the Army, including nine years of duty in Germany.

Mr. Tesch returned to Minnesota in 1988 after his military discharge and attended college at St. Cloud. He later moved to Las Vegas, Nev., and managed a Tune Up Masters automobile shop before moving to Post Falls in 1991.

He recently moved to Hayden.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra; three sons, Kevin Drost and Michael Tesch, both of Minnesota, and Jason Drost of Hayden; five daughters, Kathleen Sowada, Rebecca Hruska, and Amanda Tesch, all of Minnesota, and DeAnne Drost and Angelica Tesch, both of Hayden; his parents, Elmer and Marie Tesch of Post Falls; four brothers, Paul Tesch of Newman Lake, Daniel Tesch of Kansas, Jeffery Tesch of Coeur d’Alene and Christopher Tesch of Spokane; three sisters, Mary Amundson and Cheryl Lowe, both of Minnesota, and Michelle Walker of Kentucky; and five grandchildren.

John Heatherly Albion, Wash.

Memorial service for John Losh Heatherly, 66, is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Pullman Presbyterian Church. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Heatherly, a longtime Pullman resident, died Monday.

He was born in San Diego.

He served in the Army and moved to Pullman in 1970.

He was a painter and a member of Pullman Moose Lodge No. 943.

Mr. Heatherly’s survivors include his companion, Jean Anderson; two daughters, Carol and Joan Heatherly, both of San Diego; two sisters, Betty Heistuman of St. John, Wash., and Virginia Manderfeld of Uniontown, Wash.; and two brothers, Bob Heatherly of Spokane and Fred Heatherly of Lewisville, Texas.

Kevin ‘The Skinner’ Jones Spokane

Service for Kevin G. “The Skinner” Jones, 44, will be at noon today at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jones, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Friday.

He attended North Central High School and worked for Central Pre-Mix Concrete Co. for 20 years as a truck driver.

He is survived by five children, Cara, Kilian, Joenilla, Tamra and Sarah Jones all of Spokane; his father, James Jones of Pendleton, Ore.; two sisters, Lori McReynolds of Spokane and Lisa Kendall of Coeur d’Alene; and a brother, Ken Jones of Spokane.

Pete Bonamici Ilwaco, Wash.

Service for Pete A. Bonamici, 81, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel in Spokane.

Graveside service will follow. Penttila’s Chapel By the Sea in Long Beach, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bonamici, a former Spokane resident, died Saturday in Ilwaco, where he had lived since 1995.

He was born in Wallace and later lived in Hayford, Wash., and Cheney, where he graduated from high school.

He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers in Seward, Alaska, and when World War II began, he joined the Navy and was assigned to a new Navy construction unit, which became the Seabees.

After the war he returned to Spokane and in 1948 became one the first members of the 1st Naval Reserve Construction Brigade. He served with this reserve unit for 25 years and retired in 1973.

He also operated Bonamici Bros. Construction with his brother, and retired in mid 1970s.

Mr. Bonamici was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in Spokane and the Moose Lodge.

He married Margaret Mack in 1950 in Coeur d’Alene. She died in 1995.

He is survived a daughter, Virginia Leach of Ilwaco; and two grandchildren.

Ernst Dabelow Oldtown, Idaho

No service will be held for Ernst August Dabelow at his request.

Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dabelow, who died Wednesday, was 65.

He was born in Germany and moved to Newport from San Francisco in 1982. He later moved to Oldtown.

He was a retired auto mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Lilo Dabelow; and a son, Wolfgang Dabelow of San Francisco.

Vicki Strawn Valleyford

Memorial service for Vicki L. Strawn, 51, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Valleyford Community Church. There will be private burial at Freeman Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Strawn, who died Friday, was born in Chula Vista, Calif.

She worked as a waitress and had lived in Spokane for 35 years.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, William Strawn; three sons, Curtis Gibson of Spokane, Matthew Strawn of Milton, Wash., and Zach Strawn of Oceanside, Calif.; four daughters, Cheryl Kellogg of Spokane, Michelle Kellogg of Orangevale, Calif., De De Strawn of Kent, Wash., and Natalie Kellogg of Bremerton; a brother, Vaughn Raviart of Eureka, Mont.; three sisters, Yvonne Strauss of La Puente, Calif., Stephanie Huffman of Rio Linda, Calif., and Candace Cooke of Sacramento, Calif.; and 16 grandchildren.

David Anderson San Diego

Memorial service for David G. Anderson, 33, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Humphrey Mortuary in Chula Vista, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Anderson, a former Spokane resident, died Feb. 20.

He was born in Spokane and attended West Valley High School in Spokane.

He served in the Navy for two years and then graduated from Eastern Washington University.

He worked in sales and moved to San Diego last year.

Mr. Anderson in survived by his wife of nine years, Ronda Anderson; his mother and stepfather, Betty and Russ McMillan of Spokane; his father, Dennis Anderson of Edmonds, Wash.; a brother, Dan Anderson of Spokane; four stepbrothers, Kip and Kerry McMillan, both of Spokane, Kyle McMillan of Boston and Kory McMillan of Lewiston; and his grandparents, Mildred Worley, and Helen and Andy Anderson, all of Spokane.

Earl Rice Garfield, Wash.

Visitation for Earl Lee Rice, 48, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Garfield Christian Church with burial at Garfield Cemetery.

Mr. Rice, who died Monday, was born in Colfax, Wash.

He was a longtime Garfield resident and worked for McGregor Fertilizer Co. for many years. Most recently he had worked for Colfax Grange Supply.

He was a former semiprofessional bowler and had two sanctioned 300 games. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress.

Mr. Rice served as a volunteer firefighter for the Garfield Fire Department.

He is survived by a sister, Joyce James of Lewiston; his companion, Vikki Peterson of Garfield; and his stepmother, Dana Kaschmitter of Grangeville, Idaho.

Alice Caldwell Spokane

No service will be held for Alice K. Caldwell, 91. Burial will be in the family plot in Kirkland, Wash. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Caldwell, who died Feb. 10, was born in Omaha, Neb.

She had lived in Spokane for 25 years and was an artist, receiving many ribbons in art shows in Washington and Arizona. She was a member of the Palette and Brush art group in Spokane.

She had previously lived in Billings, Mont.

Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death by her husband, Hume Caldwell.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Muir of Soldotna, Alaska; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pearl Turner Spokane

Memorial service for I. Pearl Turner, 89, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Central Baptist Church. There will be private burial at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Turner, who died Friday, was born in Earlsboro, Okla.

She and her husband moved to Mount Vernon, Wash., in 1939 and owned the Grill Restaurant. They moved to Spokane in 1945.

Mrs. Turner worked as a cook for 11 years at the Crescent Tea Room and the department store’s first-floor soda fountain, then in several laundries, including Troy Laundry. She also worked as a receptionist for 14 years in the office of Lilac Plaza.

Her husband of 43 years, Orvis Turner, died in 1967.

She is survived by two daughters, Frances Harris of Spokane and Mary Lou Dorscher of Tiger, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

William Johnson Carmichael, Calif.

Visitation for William A. Johnson, 73, is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1 p.m. with burial at Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson, who died Friday, was born in Spokane.

He graduated from West Valley High School and was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Europe and the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Johnson retired from the Spokane County Road Department.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51 and the Moose and Eagles lodges.

Survivors include a brother, Chester Johnson of Apache Junction, Ariz.; his companion, Wilma Zamberlin of Sacramento, Calif.; and three stepdaughters, Aleta Goyne of Austin, Texas, and Jeannie Peacock and Sherry Steele, both of Spokane.

Winifred ‘Lee’ Cahill Spokane

Memorial service for Winifred “Lee” Cahill, 62, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Cahill, who died Monday, was born in Troy, Mont.

She graduated from high school in Spirit Lake, Idaho, and in 1952, married Earl Cahill in Sandpoint.

Mrs. Cahill worked in the real estate industry for 30 years and retired in 1996.

She was a member of Community Radio Watch and St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years; a daughter, Betsy Johnson of Newman Lake; a son, Brady Cahill of Millwood; two sisters, Agnes Luchini of Post Falls and Virginia Osterburg of Troy; four brothers, David Robins of Troy, Pat Robins of Newman Lake, Ben Robins of Greenacres and Larry Robins of Spokane; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
