Dollar Hits Four-Week Low Vs. Yen

The dollar slid to a four-week low against the yen Thursday amid heightened expectations Japanese companies will sell foreign currencies for yen as they close the books on their fiscal year in March.

Declining U.S. stock and bond markets also contributed to the dollar’s fall against most other currencies, although traders said the fundamental outlook for the dollar remains bullish.

John Hazelton, chief currency trader at Manufacturers & Traders Trust Co. in New York, said the yen was strong across the board.
