Coyote Cafe Closes, Is Seeking Buyer

From Staff And Wire Reports

A downtown Spokane Tex-Mex restaurant is up for sale.

Coyote Cafe, 702 W. Third, closed last Sunday after six years in business. The restaurant’s owner, Cyrus Vaughn, blamed the business’ poor sales on a depressed downtown.

“Downtown’s a tough market,” said Vaughn, who also owns Tomato Street restaurants and Cyrus O’Leary’s, a popular eatery on West Main.

“People aren’t coming downtown to shop,” Vaughn said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if you see a couple more (restaurants) close.”

Many of the restaurant’s 30 to 35 employees have been given jobs in Vaughn’s other restaurants. “We took all the managers and probably half the staff,” he said.

Vaughn said some potential buyers have expressed interest in the restaurant, but he’s received no solid offers. , DataTimes
