Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I once read in our paper a hint you had for washing sheer curtains. It was something to keep them from going limp.

If you know what I am talking about, I would like to know what it is! - Helen Wheeler, Ottawa, Kan.

I know exactly what you are asking for, and many readers keep asking the same question: How do you make sheer curtains crisp again with an Epsom salt bath? It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3.

First, wash the curtains according to the care label instructions. Second, prepare the Epsom salt solution by filling a sink with cool water and add 1 cup of Epsom salt and mix well to dissolve.

Third, add the curtains and make sure the fabric is completely immersed in the solution. Then, lift them out and hang them out to dry.

When completely dry, the curtains should be crisp and free of wrinkles! - Heloise
