Police Warn About Sex Offender

A dangerous sex offender is living in downtown Spokane, police said.

Steven G. Smith, 26, was released from prison recently. He has convictions for molesting a 7-year-old girl and for taking indecent liberties with a 12-year-old girl.

Police said he forces his victims to have sexual contact with him, often after he has been drinking.

Smith currently is not wanted for any crimes, but police said he is highly likely to re-offend. They did not release his exact address.

He has been ordered not to have contact with minors or to go to parks, playgrounds, schools or other places where children congregate. Smith also is prohibited from drinking alcohol or going to bars or taverns.

Smith is white, 5 feet 11 inches and 170 pounds. He has green eyes and brown hair. , DataTimes ILLUSTRATION: Photo
