Mother Teresa Having Back Trouble
Mother Teresa has back pain due to a mild attack of arthritis that is inflaming her joints, her doctor said Sunday.
“There is no cause for worry,” said Asish Kumar. “Her heart, lungs and kidneys are functioning well and her back pain is due to arthritis.”
He said he advised the 86-year-old Roman Catholic nun to stay in bed.
Mother Teresa was hospitalized on Nov. 22 after a mild heart attack. A week later she underwent angioplasty to remove blockages from two arteries. Her recovery has been slowed by bronchitis, pneumonia and kidney problems.
