Playfair Cancels Friday’s Racing Program

Friday’s horse racing program at Playfair Race Course has been canceled because of insufficient entries, racing secretary Ted martin said Tuesday.

The track will be open three days this week - Saturday, Sunday and Monday, which is Martin Luther King Day. Entries will be taken this morning for Saturday’s program.

Playfair has 471 horses on the grounds and another 40 in training off-track to draw from, Martin said, making it difficult to fill enough races for a four-day weekend.

NIC joins ranks, Whits move up

The North Idaho College men (13-1 overall, 5-1 Scenic West) debuted at No. 19 in the latest NJCAA basketball poll released Tuesday. NIC’s women (15-1, 5-1) are ranked 15th.

In the NAIA Division II poll, Whitworth (11-1) has moved up to No. 7. Unbeaten Lewis & Clark of Portland (10-0) is No. 1.

Scott joins Vandals

Robert Scott, an acrobatic wide receiver on the university’s football team, has joined the University of Idaho men’s basketball team.
