Michigan State Track Coach Fired

Compiled From Wire Services

Judi Brown said she’d done nothing to deserve being fired as Michigan State’s women’s track and field coach.

University officials clearly felt differently, voluntarily putting the women’s track and field program on probation for two years beginning Jan. 1, 1997 and cutting two scholarships.

They also mailed a 125-page report to the NCAA listing 12 alleged rule violations in the women’s track program, putting the blame solidly on Brown’s shoulders.

“I categorically deny having engaged in any wrongdoing,” Brown said. “I am angry that my honor and reputation have been tarnished by the university without giving me any opportunity to defend myself against these allegations.”
