Hints From Heloise

Dear Heloise: I found a nifty way to reuse the 35mm film canisters. I used a utility knife and slit the plastic from the top, about halfway down, to create a slot. I slipped a roll of postage stamps inside the canister, pulling the first stamp through the slot. Voila! I have a neat stamp dispenser for my desk at home. You can snap the lid on or leave it off, and you can paint or decorate the canister, if you like.

Make a new one every time you buy a roll of 35mm film. - Judy Turner, Mesa, Ariz.

Dear Heloise: Ever wonder what to do with all those socks you have no match for?

Take all of them and stuff them into one. This makes a great inexpensive and washable pet toy. My dog loves it! - Janet Massey, Marrero, La.
