Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: I needed a place to store plastic bags. I took a long-sleeved shirt and buttoned it up the front, leaving the top two buttons open.
I pinned the bottom of the shirt closed with safety pins, leaving a space 8 to 10 inches open in the middle. (You can sew it up after you try this idea, if you’d like to.)
Place the shirt on a hanger and stuff plastic bags in the neck opening and pull out of the opening at the bottom as needed. Smaller bags can go in the sleeves.
I hang mine in the laundry room. It looks neat and always handy.
You may want to make one for each child and hang it inside the closet door for dirty clothes.
Be creative and decorate with lace or rickrack and give to a new baby for soiled clothes. - Charlotte Messer, Macon, Ga.
Dear Heloise: To hold candles securely and upright, place a small dab of modeling clay in the bottom of the holder. Then press the candles into the clay. - Jean Eckert, Seattle
