Republic Stifles Another Opponent

Selkirk shut down Republic’s offense Saturday, but Republic’s defense again proved superior.

Republic’s Class B fifth-ranked Tigers (13-0, 11-0) held their 12th opponent to less than 50 points by stopping the host Rangers 47-37 at Ione in a Panorama League game between division leaders.

Republic led by six with 15 seconds left, but Selkirk (11-3, 9-2) was whistled for an intentional foul and a technical. Selkirk, which had won five straight, held Republic scoring leaders Mark Rickard and Jason Baldwin to combined 6-for-26 shooting from the floor.
