Soccer Star Honored Again
U.S. National Team forward Eric Wynalda became the first two-time winner of the 1996 Honda Player of the Year award when he was honored as the top soccer player in the United States in 1996.
Wynalda, 27, is the all-time leading scorer for the National Team with 27 goals. He also plays for the San Jose Clash of Major League Soccer.
Barcelona’s Brazilian striker Ronaldo was named FIFA player of the year, edging AC Milan’s Liberian star George Weah and Newcastle’s Alan Shearer.
