Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Unwanted preapproved plastic credit cards or temporary membership cards received through the advertising mail can be used as effective dish or pan scrapers. I used to discard those cards by cutting them into pieces.

Not anymore. Now I keep them beside the sink and use them as scrapers. - Minja Im, Timonium, Md.

I love this recycling hint! Please write again. - Heloise

Dear Heloise: I keep plastic, one-size-fits-all gloves (like food handlers use) in the glove compartment. After I finish pumping gas I throw the glove away on the way into the kiosk to pay. I bought a pack of 100 the other day from a restaurant-supply store for less than $3 and enclose a sample. - Warren Ring, Naples, Fla.
