Here are some of North Idaho lawmakers’ votes:
Garbage law: The House voted this week to pass legislation that would adopt the federal exemption for ground water monitoring requirements for small landfills. Reps. John Campbell, R-Sandpoint; Jim Stoicheff, D-Sandpoint; Hilde Kellogg, R-Post Falls; Wayne Meyer, R-Rathdrum; Jim Clark, R-Hayden; Jeff Alltus, R-Hayden; Larry Watson, D-Wallace; Don Pischner, R-Couer d’Alene; Charles Cuddy, D-Orofino; and June Judd, D-St. Maries all voted for the bill.
For homeowners: Reps. Hilde Kellogg, R-Post Falls, and Jim Clark, R-Hayden, voted to introduce legislation expanding the homeowner’s exemption from property tax. The committee vote was 10-5. The bill will have a full hearing later.
Private prison: Legislation to allow the state to contract with a private company to build and operate a prison won introduction in the House Judiciary Committee. Clark and Judd joined the majority in the 12-2 vote.
