Delmar ‘Del’ Odegaard Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Delmar “Del” Odegaard, 62, will be at noon Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries, Idaho. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Odegaard, who was born in Fernwood, Idaho, died Friday.

He graduated from St. Maries High School and then served in the Marine Corps.

He attended the University of Idaho before working as a police officer for eight years in Moscow, Idaho. He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1968 and worked as a police officer until his retirement as a detective in 1985.

Mr. Odegaard later worked for Central Pre-Mix, retiring in 1995.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Arlyss; four sons, Craig Odegaard and Doug Odegaard, both of Coeur d’Alene, Brian Odegaard of Oregon and Eric Odegaard of Spokane; a daughter, Kirsten Odegaard of Monroe, Wash.; a brother, Ronald Odegaard of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Bonnie Peters of Fernwood, Idaho; and eight grandchildren.

Josephine Olson Coeur d’Alene

Service for Josephine M. Olson, 93, will be today at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be later in Hillside, Ill.

Mrs. Olson, who was born in New York City, died Saturday.

She grew up in Chicago, where she had worked for the New York Life Insurance Co. She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1992 and had lived at Life Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell. Survivors include a sister, Eleanor Widener of Coeur d’Alene; seven nieces and three nephews.

John Van Etten Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Service for John K. Van Etten, 65, was Tuesday. Private burial will take place at the Moravia (Idaho)Cemetery. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Van Etten, who was born in Sandpoint, died Friday.

He attended school in Moravia and Bonners Ferry, where he worked cutting posts and Christmas trees. He later worked for a feed store and TomCo Lumber Co., as well as Kelson Construction.

Mr. Van Etten also worked at the Pack River Lumber Mill as a dry kiln operator, carrier driver and a stacker operator. He retired in 1995.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; six children, Mary Ann Tritt, Peggy Van Etten, John Van Etten, Connie Gentry and Paul Van Etten, all of Bonners Ferry, and Leassa Field of Germany; his mother, Myrtle Van Etten of Bonners Ferry; a sister, Nadine Krigbaum of Spokane; and 13 grandchildren.

Glen Wilson Priest River, Idaho

Service for Glen Allen Wilson, 95, was Tuesday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River.

Mr. Wilson, a former Spokane resident, died Saturday.

He was born in Velva, N.D., and married Lucille Burns in 1926 in Thompson Falls, Mont.

Mr. Wilson worked as a cattle rancher most of his life.

He had lived in Spokane for 27 years and moved to Priest River four years ago.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Glen Wilson Jr. of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Winnie Larson of Priest River; a brother, Milo Wilson of Conner, Mont.; a sister, Laura Krueger of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; and four granddaughters.

Grace Leigh Spokane

Service for Grace L. Leigh, 80, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Leigh, who was born in Chewelah, Wash., died Friday.

She graduated from North Central High School and attended Kinman Business College.

She worked for Bearing and Rim in Spokane as a bookkeeper, then worked for the West Valley School District for 10 years.

She was a member of the Spokane Garden Club.

Mrs. Leigh was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Fred Leigh, in 1989.

She is survived by three sons, Dave Leigh of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Bob Leigh of Spokane and Ted Leigh of Portland; a sister, Hazel Carlson of Spokane; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Gordon Taylor Sandpoint

Private family service for Gordon L. Taylor, 55, will be held in the spring. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Taylor, who was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, died Thursday.

He attended school in Canada and later moved to Oregon before moving to Sandpoint.

Mr. Taylor worked as manager at Evergreen Ford and Mercury before operating Gordon Taylor’s Auto Body Care in 1984.

He retired in 1996. He was active in the Lost in the Fifties organization.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; one son, Dan Taylor of Spokane; a daughter, Tina Crea of Louisiana; his mother, Lillian Olson of Portland; two brothers, Edward Taylor of California and David Taylor of Oregon; and two grandchildren, Andrew and Brianna.

Memorials may be made to the Lost in the Fifties organization.

Gustav Schestok Spokane

Memorial service for Gustav W. Schestok, 55, is set for 3 p.m. Thursday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

Mr. Schestok, who died Jan. 19, was born in Philadelphia.

He had lived in Spokane for 20 years and was a machinist and tool and die maker. He worked for Dewer Co. in Post Falls.

He made the die for the roof of the Carrousel at Riverfront Park.

Mr. Schestok is survived by a son, Gus Schestok and a daughter, Carmella Scully, both of Essington, Pa.; numerous brothers and sisters; his former wife, Margaret Furness of Spokane; and several grandchildren.

Anna Floyd Spokane

Visitation for Anna E. Floyd, 86, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Floyd, who was born and raised in Priest River, Idaho, died Saturday.

She had lived in Spokane for more than 50 years and worked at Zucker’s and Lerner’s, where she retired as the assistant manager downtown.

She was a volunteer at the Spokane Cancer Society Thrift Store.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Floyd.

Mrs. Floyd is survived by two sons, David Floyd of Spokane and Dennis Floyd of Bothell, Wash.; a sister, Genevieve Young of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Florence Shields Post Falls

Inurnment for Florence E. Shields, 82, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shields, who was born in Ellensburg, died Saturday.

She grew up and attended school in Freeman and moved to North Idaho in 1948. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, in 1973. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Vandenbos and Ollie Reynolds, both of Spokane; and a brother, Charles Tucker of Arizona.

Evelyn Green Spirit Lake, Idaho

Service for Evelyn L. Green, 75, was Monday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Spirit Lake. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Green, who was born in Texas, died Friday.

She grew up in Texas before moving to California. She moved to Spirit Lake in 1979.

Mrs. Green was a charter member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil, in 1962. Survivors include her husband, Woody; four sons, Virgil Lockhart and David Green, both of California, and Kenneth Lockhart and James Lockhart, both of Florida; a daughter, Gail McClelland of Spirit Lake; a brother, Oliver Kroll of California; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Walter Willard Holmstrom St. Maries

Service for Walter Willard Holmstrom, 88, was Tuesday at the Community Presbyterian Church in St. Maries. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Holmstrom, who was born in Kansas, died Saturday.

He owned a business in San Diego prior to moving to St. Maries in 1958.

He moved to Cottage Care Apartments at Valley Vista Retirement Home in 1994.

He was a member of the St. Joe Valley Fish and Game Association and the Kiwanis Club, an elder of Community Presbyterian Church and a state committeeman for the Republican Party. He had served as vice president of the St. Maries Chamber of Commerce, as an officer of the Toastmasters Club and on the board of directors for the St. Joe River Boat Club.

Mr. Holmstrom was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria, in 1996. Survivors include two children, W. Delmore Holmstrom and Anna Mae Bowie, both of California; eight grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Russell Palmer Smelterville, Idaho

No service will be held for Russell Jay Palmer, 63. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Palmer, who was born in Kansas, died Saturday.

Lawrence ‘Bob’ Richardson Kingston, Idaho

Graveside service for Lawrence R. “Bob” Richardson, 84, will be today at 10 a.m. at Shoshone Memorial Gardens in Kingston. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Richardson, who was born in Minnesota, died Friday. He moved to North Idaho in 1926 from Libby, Mont., and worked for Bunker Hill Mining Co. for 25 years before retiring in 1971.

Mr. Richardson was a member of the Bunker Hill 20-year Club.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Myrtle; and three sisters, Dorothy White of Pinehurst, Idaho, Gertrude Finlay of Cataldo, Idaho, and Jean Waldo of Kingston.
