Panel To Report On Bonner Schools

From Staff And Wire Reports

A state Department of Education team will release its review of the Bonner County School District on July 8.

The team will give a presentation to the public and the school board at a 7 p.m. meeting in Sandpoint. The report will be made public at the same time the district seats two new school board members.

Voters ousted two incumbents because of troubles in the district, which included a $159,000 deficit. The state advisory team also will hold public meetings July 9 at 2 p.m. in Clark Fork and at 7 p.m. at Priest River-Lamanna High.

The state was called in to scrutinize the district after patrons and teachers complained about how money was being spent. The advisory team also looked at spending in the special education department and staffing in the central office.
