Woman Feared Drowned

Associated Press

A search has begun for a woman who presumably drowned after her canoe capsized in the Clark Fork River Friday evening.

The woman’s young son and boyfriend were thrown clear but she was trapped under the canoe and they couldn’t free her before they were swept away by the strong current, said Missoula County Sheriff’s Sgt. Howard Reed.

The woman’s name was not released.

Officials said the life jacket she was wearing came off.

Officials said the search effort would continue Saturday.
