The Philadelphia Flyers named San Jose Sharks assistant Wayne Cashman as their new head coach, the team said.

He replaces Terry Murray, who was fired June 13 after the team was swept by the Detroit Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals.

The New York Rangers have signed free agent, defensive-oriented forwards Mike Keane and Brian Skrudland. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Kris King, an unrestricted free-agent left wing, who spent last season with the Phoenix Coyotes, signed a four-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
