Marilyn (Nelson) Stevens Moyie Springs, Idaho

Mass of Christian Burial for Marilyn A. (Nelson) Stevens, 66, will be today at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry.

Mrs. Stevens, who was born in Kalispell, Mont., died Thursday.

She graduated from high school in Kalispell and attended Columbus Hospital Nursing School in Great Falls, Mont.

She later moved to Eastport, Idaho, and then Porthill, Idaho, and was a homemaker.

She had worked for the Bonners Ferry Community Hospital Auxiliary for 20 years and moved to Moyie Springs after retiring.

Mrs. Stevens was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and was a volunteer with the Idaho Baby Track Program.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred; five daughters, Kathy Garrett, Mary Funkhouser, Susan Owsley and Cindy Maas, all of Bonners Ferry, and Sharon Wood of Kamiah, Idaho; four sons, Tom Stevens of Lewiston, and Ken, Mike and Pat Stevens, all of Bonners Ferry; her mother, Clara Nelson; a brother, John Nelson of Kalispell; and 17 grandchildren.

Pauline Wilson Hayden

Visitation for Pauline Wilson, 87, will be today from 6-7 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Service is set for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Wilson, who was born in North Dakota, died Saturday.

She had worked as a waitress and had lived in Minnesota and Michigan before moving to Hayden in 1945.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Isrual.

Survivors include a daughter, Ivy McNeil of Hayden; a son, Gould “Junior” Wilson of Hayden; four grandsons and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Van Slate Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Dorothy E. Van Slate, 86, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Van Slate, who was born in Minnesota, died Saturday.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1933 from Minnesota and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Mead, died in 1977.

Survivors include four sons, Mike, Howard and Larry Van Slate, all of Coeur d’Alene, and Chris Van Slate of Hayden; a daughter, Karen Van Slate of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Howard Nielsen of Seattle; and eight grandchildren.

Bertha Cooper Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Graveside service for Bertha Elaine Cooper, 64, was Monday at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cooper, who was born in North Dakota, died Wednesday.

She grew up in North Dakota before moving to Boise, where she became a beautician.

Mrs. Cooper had lived in Seattle, Moyie Springs, Idaho, and Bonners Ferry before moving to Alaska in 1968. In Alaska she worked for the Anchorage School District.

In 1987 she retired and returned to Bonners Ferry.

She received several ribbons at the Boundary County Fair for her crocheted blankets.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Larry; two daughters, Wanda Reed of Bonners Ferry and Brenda Koch of Alaska; two sons, Robert Cooper of Alaska and Patrick Jones of Kirkland,Wash.; two sisters, Marcheta Jenkins of Boise and Solveig Baldwin of North Dakota; and six grandchildren.

Edna Cochrane Potlatch, Idaho

Service for Edna G. Cochrane, 100, will be at 2 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash. Burial will follow at the Freeze Cemetery north of Potlatch, Idaho.

Mrs. Cochrane, who was born in Mascot, Neb., died Saturday.

She moved with her family from Kansas to Princeton, Idaho, in 1905.

In 1919 she married Eugene Cochrane in Moscow, Idaho, and they made their home in the Princeton area, where they farmed and ranched.

They retired in the early 1960s and moved to Potlatch in 1965. Her husband died in 1965.

She was a member of the Princeton Grange, the Royal Neighbors of American at Potlatch, the Princeton Community Club, the Rebekah Lodge, the Senior Citizens Club, the Potlatch Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and the World War I Veterans Auxiliary.

Mrs. Cochrane is survived by four sons, Foy Cochrane of Princeton, Charles and Duane Cochrane, both of Potlatch, and Marlyn Cochrane of Lewiston; a brother, Preston Bunney of Princeton; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 13 stepgreat-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and nine stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Ralph Burrell Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for Ralph G. Burrell, 91, will be held today from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery.

Mr. Burrell, who died Friday, was born in Wilford, Idaho.

He moved to Kellogg from Montana in 1935 and had worked as a general contractor in the Silver Valley building schools and commercial buildings. He later served as maintenance engineer for the hospital in Kellogg before retiring.

He had lived in Coeur d’Alene since 1993.

Mr. Burrell also sold handcrafted silver jewelry and was selected to display his art at the annual Cataldo Mission Craft Fair.

He was a charter member of the Kellogg Elks and a member of the Scamp Rock Hound Club.

His wife of 21 years, Cearabelle, preceded him in death.

He later remarried and was divorced.

Survivors include his former wife, Verde Burrell of Kellogg; three daughters, Natalie Grant of Pinehurst, Idaho, Betty Bray of Coeur d’Alene, and Evalyn Adams of Spokane; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Rob Ginger Mead, Wash.

Memorial service for Rob Craig Ginger, 28, was Monday at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint.

Mr. Ginger, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.

He moved to the Cocolalla, Idaho area in 1979 and attended Southside School and Sandpoint High School.

Mr. Ginger joined the Army in 1986 and served in Germany as a personnel clerk. He left the military in 1989.

Mr. Ginger had lived in Sagle before moving to Mead.

Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Taylor of Sandpoint; his mother and stepfather, Karleen and Ron Angel of Cocolalla; his father, Steve Ginger of Boise; two brothers, Don and Cory Ginger, both of Mead; a stepbrother, Jeremy Angel of Cocolalla; two sisters, Shelly Sepanski of Spokane and Minday Muma of Sequim, Wash.; a stepsister, Maria White of Vay, Idaho; and his grandparents, Jim and Deldee Lewis of Colbert.

Beulah Blackburn Colfax, Wash.

Service for Beulah Lee Blackburn, 82, is set for 11 a.m. today at the Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will be at 4 p.m. at the Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries, Idaho.

Mrs. Blackburn, who was born in Oakesdale, Wash., died Saturday.

She graduated from Oakesdale High School and attended Kinman Business College.

She helped operate the family grocery store in Steptoe, Wash.

In 1937 she married Gilbert Blackburn in Steptoe and they made their home in Colfax. He died in 1975.

Mrs. Blackburn worked as a production adjustment clerk for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. She retired in 1977.

She moved to Benewah Resort on Lake Chatcolet in Idaho and subsequently returned to Colfax 10 years ago.

Mrs. Blackburn was a member of the Oakesdale Baptist Church and the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary.

She is survived by two sisters, Roberta Seipp and Deloris Holt, both of Spokane; and a brother, Wayne Wilson of Mesa, Ariz.

David Kimmons Priest River, Idaho

Service for David Edward “Dave” Kimmons, 68, is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River.

Mr. Kimmons, who was born in Bagdad, Fla., died Thursday.

He served in the Navy as a medical corpsman, and moved from Florida to Priest River in 1950.

In 1957 he married Shirley Shawgo in Missoula.

He worked in the logging industry and also owned the West Branch Truck service station until the mid 1970s, when it was destroyed in a fire.

Mr. Kimmons is survived by his wife; two sons, Daniel Kimmons of Priest River and Richard Kimmons of Anchorage, Alaska; four brothers, Reggie, Maxwell and Otis Kimmons, all of Pensacola, Fla., and Dannie Kimmons of Clawson, Mich.; and two granddaughters.

Keith Austin Spokane

Visitation for Keith E. Austin, 64, is scheduled for noon to 9 p.m. today at the Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday the funeral home with burial at the Wild Rose Cemetery.

Mr. Austin, who was born in Manville, Alberta, died Friday.

He worked for Pacific Northwest Alloys and later retired from Central Pre-Mix Concrete Co.

Mr. Austin also played the steel guitar in local clubs for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Flora; two sons, Loren and Larry; two stepsons, Gary and Tom Postlewait; a stepdaughter, Janie Johnson; his mother, Barbara; a brother, George; three sisters, Josephine Stephens-Smith, Madeline Luher and Cecilia Scott; four grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren.

Thomas Geraghty Spokane

Funeral Mass for Thomas Richard Geraghty, 54, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Geraghty, who was born in Kellogg, died Thursday.

He had lived in Spokane for 50 years and attended Lewis and Clark High School and Eastern Washington University.

He later worked as an accountant for Rowand Machinery for 25 years.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam era and was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 228, Eagles Lodge No. 2, Alpha Kappa Psi and the Elks Bowling League.

Mr. Geraghty is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two daughters, Laurie Geraghty of Tempe, Ariz., and Kristin Geraghty of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Kenneth Geraghty of Spokane; and three brothers, Larry Geraghty of Seattle, and Jerry and Ray Geraghty, both of Spokane.

Milo Bushnell Spokane

Vigil service for Milo H. Bushnell, 92, is set for 7 p.m. today at the Riplinger Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Private burial be at Spring Canyon Cemetery in Grand Coulee, Wash.

Mr. Bushnell died Wednesday.

He was born in Latah.

He served in the Navy during World War II as a chief warrant officer in the South Pacific.

Mr. Bushnell worked as a power plant operator for Grand Coulee Dam and retired in 1968.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Grand Coulee.

He moved to Spokane in 1968. His wife, Elizabeth, died in February.

Mr. Bushnell is survived by a son, Wayne Bushnell of Walla Walla; two daughters, Betty Wesoloski of Hadley, Mass., and Carol Bales of Spokane; two stepdaughters, Leona Mellott of Vancouver, Wash., and Theresa Averill of Dothan, Ala.; two sisters, Evelyn Henderson of Spokane and Lylla Allen of Vancouver, Wash.; three half-sisters, Geneva Houtz of Pendleton, Ore., Virginia Barnett of Meridian, Idaho, and Elaine Zutter Campbell of Twisp, Wash.; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Carl Phillips Spokane

Service for Carl Phillips, 85, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Phillips, who was born in Easton, Kan., died Friday.

He served in the Army as a vehicle mechanic at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii and at Fort George Wright in Spokane. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft during World War II.

Mr. Phillips later drove bus for Spokane City Lines and worked for the Washington State Game Department.

He was a member of the Spokane Rifle Club and the National Rifle Association and was a Golden Age member of Eagle Lodge No. 2.

He also served with the Army National Guard as a technician for the service company at Felts Field and as a first sergeant in Ephrata, Chewelah, Yakima and Ellensburg, Wash.

His wife of 50 years, Pauline, died in 1990.

Mr. Phillips is survived by a son, Fred Phillips of Spokane; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Belva Ross Spokane

Service for Belva Mae Ross, 91, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ross, who was born Addy, Wash, died Thursday.

She was a homemaker and a member of Sinto Senior Center.

Her husband of 37 years, Joseph Ross, died in 1978.

Mrs. Ross is survived by two sons, Eugene and Richard Ross, both of Spokane; a daughter, Linda Wilson of Shoreline, Wash.; two sisters, Arleta Hafferman of Seattle and Marvelle Dechand of Auburn, Wash.; a stepson, Wayne Ross of Seattle; a stepdaughter, June Calahan of Milton, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Helen Stocking Merrick Spokane

Service for Helen B. Stocking Merrick, 83, is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Merrick, a 52-year Spokane resident, died Thursday.

She was born in Circle, Mont.

She graduated from high school in Brockway, Mont., and from Eastern Montana University in Billings.

Mrs. Merrick taught school in Eastern Montana and worked for Boeing during World War II. She later graduated from Kinman Business University.

She was and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1474 Auxiliary and the Spokane Mushroom Club.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Herbert; a daughter, Karen Stocking of Steilacoom, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
