Coyotes Land Tocchet

The Phoenix Coyotes signed free agent forward Rick Tocchet to a three-year contract, reuniting him with former Washington Capitals coach Jim Schoenfeld.

Tocchet, 33, split last season between the Boston Bruins and Capitals.

Interim general manager Bill Watters, temporarily in charge of the Toronto Maple Leafs while the club seeks a permanent replacement for Cliff Fletcher, signed his fourth free agent in five days.

Goaltender Glenn Healy, an unrestricted free agent from the New York Rangers, agreed to a contract reportedly worth $3.9 million over three years.

The Detroit Red Wings signed free agent and former Spokane Chief Brent Gilchrist to a three-year contract.
