Ncaa To Test Quarters
The NCAA will consider an experiment to play college basketball games in four 10-minute quarters.
The 13-member committees that set rules for both men’s and women’s basketball will discuss the idea in a conference call on Aug. 1.
If the committees give the go-ahead, the concept could be put in place for preseason tournaments next season such as the Great Alaska Shootout and the preseason men’s and women’s NIT.
The departure of a longtime assistant has prompted Indiana basketball coach Bob Knight to restructure his staff and add two new aides - John Treloar and Mike Davis, who becomes IU’s first black men’s basketball assistant coach since Joby Wright left in 1990.
The changes were prompted by Dan Dakich’s decision this spring to become head coach at Bowling Green.
