Carol Walter Spokane
Visitation for Carol J. Walter, 53, is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Hunters, Wash.
Mrs. Walter, who was born in Pasco, died Monday.
She worked as a bookkeeper for a carpet company and was a member of the National Association for Family and Community Education. She also volunteered for the American Cancer Society and was an avid runner and gardener.
Mrs. Walter is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bruce; a daughter, Kristie Kirkpatrick of Colfax, Wash.; two sons, Jess and Ralph Walter, both of Spokane; a sister, Marilyn Hattenburg of Elk, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.

Matilda ‘Tillie’ Ihly Auburn, Wash.
Funeral Mass for Matilda “Tillie” Ihly, 95, will be at 8 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Private burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ihly, who was born in the Ukraine, died Saturday.
In 1903 she moved with her family to Dickinson, N.D. She worked in sales at the Dickinson J C Penney Co.
In 1932 Mrs. Ihly became an American citizen. She married John Ihly in 1942 and they settled in Spokane.
Her husband died in 1986.
Mrs. Ihly worked at Montgomery Ward and was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes.
She is survived by a sister, Phyllis Bird of Auburn.
Russell Parkins Spokane
A gathering for Russell A. (Jahn) Parkins is planned for 1 p.m. today at Franklin Park in Spokane. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Parkins, 79, died Sunday.
He was born in Davenport, Wash.
A Spokane resident for 30 years, Mr. Parkins was a carpenter. He also had worked on many of the grain elevators in the region.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Hazel; three sons, Robert and Michael Parkins both of Spokane, and Don Parkins of Chico, Calif.; three daughters, Linda Wilson and Kathleen Parkins, both of Spokane, and Pat Dudley of Visalia, Calif.; a brother, Ray Parkins, and a sister, Jean Madden, both of Spokane; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Louise Thomas Spokane
Vigil service for Louise Thomas, 90, will be at 7 p.m. today at the Riplinger Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery in Colville, Wash.
Born in Germany, Mrs. Thomas died Sunday.
She was a 68-year Spokane resident and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond; two sons, Charles Thomas of Spokane and Richard Thomas of Richland; three daughters, Catherine Riley of Cupertino, Calif., Louise St. Hilaire of Pasco, and Mary Wass of Woodstock, Ga.; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Shawn Flanagan Tekoa, Wash.
Memorial service for Shawn Michael Flanagan, 25, will be at 7 p.m. today at the Selkirk High School, Ione, Wash. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home of Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Flanagan died last Thursday in a one-car accident near Newport.
He was born in Metaline Falls, Wash.
Mr. Flanagan graduated from Selkirk High School and served four years in the Air Force and two years in the Air National Guard.
In 1994 he married Melissa Wiant in Colville, Wash., and they made their home in Tekoa.
He worked as a tailsaw operator at the Rayonier Lumber Company in Plummer, Idaho.
Mr. Flanagan is survived by his wife; a daughter, Taylor at home; his parents, E.Z. and Judy Flanagan of Metaline, Wash.; a brother, Tony Flanagan, and a sister, Caralee Story, both of Kettle Falls, Wash.
Edgar Jack Jr. Spokane
Graveside service for Edgar D. Jack Jr., 68, was Saturday at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Jack, who was born in Darby, Pa., died July 1.
He served the Air Force for more than 27 years and retired as a decorated senior master sergeant.
Mr. Jack was a 24-year Spokane resident and a member of the National Rifle Association.
His wife, Rosemarie (Liptac) Jack, died in 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Tinamarie Jack of Spokane and Dennie Walker of San Diego; and three grandchildren.

Joanne Baker Spokane
Family graveside service for Joanne Baker, 83, was Monday at the Pines Cemetery.
Born in Canton, N.C., Mrs. Baker died Wednesday.
She worked as a licensed practical nurse and moved to Spokane in 1979 from California.
Mrs. Baker is survived by three daughters, Joanne Bell of Quail Valley, Calif., Jeanne Fredrickson of Liberty Lake and Deborah Baker of Spokane; two brothers, Glen Rice of Colorado and William Rice of California; a sister, Margie Rice of Michigan; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Shirl Haegele Spokane
Service for Shirl D. Haegele, 83, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Haegele, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Sunday.
He operated a photo business and was a member of the Five Mile Community Church.
Mr. Haegele is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor; a son, Richard Haegele of Warden, Wash.; a daughter, Shirley Haegele of Spokane; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Cecil Vincent Sandpoint
Burial mass for Cecil Howard Vincent, 75, will be 11 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vincent, who was born in Nebraska, died Saturday.
He attended schools in Nebraska and went on to work in several auto body shops before serving with the Army’s 318th Combat Infantry in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Mr. Vincent returned to Nebraska after his military discharge before moving to Boise to work in the autobody repair business.
He moved back to Nebraska and lived in Colorado before moving to the Sandpoint area in 1974.
Mr. Vincent owned the Westmond Store in Cocolalla until 1978. He then worked for the Bonner County School District in maintenance until 1993.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mona; two sons, Jerry Vincent of Arizona and Delane Vincent of Wisconsin; a daughter, Elaine Farrar, of Sandpoint; a brother, Darreld Vincent of Nebraska; three sisters, Alberta Johnson and Gladys Sellars, both of Boise, and Marjorie Gibbons of Nebraska; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Gertrude ‘Carrie’ Smith Spokane
Private inurnment for Gertrude Caroline “Carrie” Smith, 95, will be at Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham, Wash. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Seattle, Mrs. Smith died Wednesday.
She moved to Spokane from Bellingham in 1980 and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, World War I Veterans Auxiliary, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Retired Fireman’s Association Auxiliary.
Her husband, Vernon, died in 1962.
She is survived by a daughter, Verna Calonita of Spokane; a son, Donald Smith of Federal Way, Wash.; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Selina Boothe Moscow, Idaho
Visitation for Selina Mary Boothe, 86, will be today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Funeral Mass is planned for 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at take place at Forest Cemetery.
Mrs. Boothe, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Sunday.
She lived in the Coeur d’Alene and Spokane area most of her. She had lived in Walla Walla, from 1968 until 1975.
She had worked at J C Penney in Spokane for 16 years. She also active in Camp Fire Girls for 25 years and was a recipient of the National Leadership Award.
Mrs. Boothe volunteered at St. Annes Children’s Home in Spokane after her retirement.
Her husband, Norris, died in 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Stickelmeyer of Wallace and Marilyn Moore of Moscow; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Donavon Wright Priest River, Idaho
Graveside service for Donavon Wright, 76, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Newport (Wash.) Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wright, who died Friday, was born in Aberdeen, S.D.
He served in the Army for 20 years and played in the 11th U.S. Cavalry Band. He retired in 1960 as a master sergeant.
In 1945 he married Lee Ora Jones in Wichita Falls, Texas. She died in 1993.
He worked as a computer operator for the Defense Department in Fort Ord, Calif. In 1976 he moved to the HooDoo Loop area near Priest River.
Mr. Wright was a member of the Newport Eagles Lodge, the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include a son, Steven Wright at home; and a brother, Ken Wright of Pensacola, Fla.

Violet (Schmidt) Hill Spokane
Private family service for Violet I. (Schmidt) Hill, 92, was Tuesday. Burial was at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hill, who was born in Hartford, S.D., died Sunday.
In the late 1940s she moved from Minnesota to Spokane and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Her husband, Arthur Hill, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hill is survived by two daughters, Barbara Hill and Jane Corbett, both of Kent, Wash.
Alta Little Rathdrum, Idaho
Graveside service for Alta M. Little, 83, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Rathdrum Cemetery. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements and cremation.
Mrs. Little died Saturday.
She was born in Bradley, S.D.
She was a longtime Rathdrum resident and a homemaker.
Mrs. Little is survived by her husband of 34 years, Elvin; three sons, Ralph Liberty of Fairbanks, Alaska, Robert and Randy Liberty, both of Spokane; two daughters, Sharon Folmer of Spokane and Darlene Klingaman of Rathdrum; a sister, Dora Lyke of Aberdeen, S.D.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Alice ‘Jinny’ Wilhelm Post Falls
Rosary for Alice “Jinny” Wilhelm, 75, will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at the English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Funeral Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. George’s Catholic Church in Post Falls. Mrs. Wilhelm, who was born in Post Falls, died Wednesday.
She was a homemaker.
She had lived in Blanchard, Idaho, before moving to the Spokane Valley in 1969. She moved to Post Falls in 1996.
Her husband, Bill, died in 1986.
Survivors include five sons, John and Jerry Wilhelm, both of Spokane, Jeff and Joe Wilhelm, both of Coeur d’Alene, and Jay Wilhelm of Post Falls; four daughters, Jane Torvik, Julie Medley and Jackie Livingston, all of Spokane, and JoAnn Hildebrant of Post Falls; three brothers, Bob Peters of Spokane, George Peters of Las Vegas and Ron Peters of Oregon; a sister, Helen Von Gruben of Louisiana; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
